Default Sluggish start-up

A little while back the check engine light came on the car saying bad passenger side cat. Well I drove the car a little longer than I should have before getting it fixed and when I would go to start it, it would gradually take longer and longer. After I got the cat replaced it is still doing it. When I tap the gas it will usually fire up a little easier, but if I dont sometimes it wont start at all. Do you guys think its a fuel problem? Where should I start on this?

Yeah I was possibly thinking that b/c you can hear the fuel pump prime when you turn on the ignition.

even after you replace your fuel filter you will STILL hear the fuel pump prime... my filter is brand new and i can hear the pump loud and clear...

but my car does crank over a lil while before it starts too. Could be a number of things. But im not replacing hte fuel pump because i want to go to a standalone EMS and do a full out fuel system (sumped tank, dual 8an lines into y-block into 10an, then into a A1000 pump... you get the idea)...
