Default thinking about supercharging my LT1

1. How well do LT1s and their trannys hold up on the 4.5/6 psi kits
2. What kind of gains for 4.5-6 psi kits should i expect.
3. They fit my car I know, but how hard is it to fit
4. What kind of gas mileage decrease is expected.
5. Summit offers a powerdyne supercharger kit for 2.7k *the 4.5 psi one* should i do it?
6. what else would i need to make this supercharger kit work *i.e. fuel pump/injectors, ect.

would like to see different opinions

I do not know any of the answers to your questions but I wouldn't personally waste $2700 on a 4.5psi kit when you could spend a additional $1k and get a 8psi procharger which will yield you much better gains. 4.5psi is too small IMO.

Its really hot here in AZ. Running a non intercooled supercharger in 114* ambient temps isn't a great idea with factory cast pistons. I put a 4.5 psi Powerdyne on my Formula at 70k along with a boost timing retard and Scanmaster to monitor everything. Got 1500 miles on it before I started getting tons of blowby and had to do a full on motor rebuild. Made 340rwhp with that blower and Hooker shorty headers.
You will need an inline booster pump, 30lb injectors, and a KICKASS dyno tune. You will have to run with very little timing at all if you wanna run 91 octane pump gas in the heat, making the hp increase even less. You could do an LE1 head/cam package for $1500 from www.eportworks.com and make 380rwhp on pump gas no problem. Heck I make 371rwhp with unported heads and CC306 cam.

How does one get away with a blower when living in a area with super high temps and crappy fuel?

By only driving it in the winter...

or running a summer tune with NO timing in it, of course all the hp dissapears too.

A stock LT1 shortblock is just not blower friendly. The cast pistons and 10.5:1 compression isn't a great combo for boost. Try and find anyone who has put, say, 30k on a blown stock shortblock. They don't exist, even in places where the air and fuel is good.

When you say no timing what type of degrees are we talking throught the rpm? This was the MAIN reason I didnt go blower here in the middle east.
