Engine run without valvecovers?

Engine run without valvecovers? I recently installed a tr224, comp918's, ti retainers, and 7.425 pushrods, in my 98 bird. I've only put about 100 miles on it and i think i have a collapsed lifter. my question is, is there anyway i can mount the coilpacks so i can fire the engine? I would really hate to pull the heads off if i dont have to. thanks.

you can maybe cut you a piece of cardboard the length of the head and about a foot high and it should catch most of it.oil is not that hard to clean up if it don't catch it all.

Running without the valve covers will get oil everywhere. Just remove the covers and turn the motor over by hand.
