Default Engine run without valvecovers?

I recently installed a tr224, comp918's, ti retainers, and 7.425 pushrods, in my 98 bird. I've only put about 100 miles on it and i think i have a collapsed lifter. my question is, is there anyway i can mount the coilpacks so i can fire the engine? I would really hate to pull the heads off if i dont have to. thanks.

Running without the valve covers will get oil everywhere. Just remove the covers and turn the motor over by hand.

you can maybe cut you a piece of cardboard the length of the head and about a foot high and it should catch most of it.oil is not that hard to clean up if it don't catch it all.

How can you tell when there is a collapsed lifter?
