Head stud questions
I am looking into buying ARP head studs for my car.....I found them on thunderracing. com on sale and was going to order them. There are two different part numbers for 12pt head studs. here is the link.
Thunder's Head Studs
113-234-4316 ARP 12 pt. Head Stud Kit, LS1 thru 2003
113-234-4317 ARP 12 pt Head Stud Kit, 2004 & up LS1,-2,-6, Gen III
What I don't understand is what is different about an 01 block (like I have) and an 04 block. I just assumed that they would be the same. It's not like the $11 dollar difference is much but I just wanted to know why they wouldn't all just use one part number

stud length
The 2004 and newer blocks use short fasteners in all positions. The earilier blocks use short fasteners at the dowel hole locations and long fasteners in the other holes.
