Default O-ringing?

At what hp/compression level does it become necessary to o-ring an ls1 block? Thanks.

I believe that it is not a issue of hp or compression level, but rather one of cylinder pressure. Increased cylinder pressure from FI or N2O usually needs the heads or block to be O-ringed.

One reason to o-ring the block/head is to avoid blowing head gaskets. Unfortunately, the next thing to go is the ring lands. So, I would use forged pistons too.
