is this a safe way to tune?
HP Tuners 2 bar SD 5.3L 8.6:1 compression 11* timing under 15# boost
I set the VE table up as described on here, copy 105 and multiply it by 1.25 for the 200 and interpolate in between.
BE table I started 100 at 1.0 and 150 at 1.20 then interpolate between them, and from 150-210 left at 1.20
I have no EIO but i have a wideband w/ digital A/F gauge. What ive been doing is logging watching the narrow band chart while watching my A/f gauge. then remembering what it was and where. I tuned w/ turbo pipe off got it to cruise at about 14.5 AFR full throttle about 12.5 AFR put the pipe back on and made a pass, 15psi boost and blew some black smoke and ran rich. Watched where it hit on the chart and changed it. now im getting about 11.2 AFR at full boost 15#. Seems to be consistant.
Think i'll have any issues the way i did it, by watching rather than logging the actual AFRs?
