Default Hard to start 97 T/A

Well, the fuel pump died a few months ago and I swapped in a walbro 255 pump. It flat out had no fuel pressure, and wouldnt start. Even before that swap took place I would have to crank the car a few seconds, stop and crank it again to get it to fire. It is still doing it, so even though the original pump died, it wasn't due to that.

It always starts on the 2nd round of cranking, but it's getting annoying. I've been doing some searching and wondering if I could try a different cap on the opti if mine is getting worn. The car has 130K miles and most parts are still original.

id try the opti, coil and/or ICM, pull the wire coming off the coil and see if you have good spark there, then pull a plug and wire and see if you have good spark there as well, if not, theres your problem

im having the same problem with my 94 t/a. I have to turn the key on and off a few times and then it fires up. I have a new msd box, new coil, new plugs and wires, and the opti only has about 20k on it. Could the walbro and the trex booster need a adjust reg or something, sorry if i thread jacked

Put a fuel pressure guage on and see if it holds pressure after it primes. If the pressure drops you might have a leaky injector or some other leak. Mine had a small leak in the teflon hose running from the fuel pump to the metal line coming out of the tank.
