Driving with the T76
Got the boost gauge, BOV, and all the other little misc. **** fixed...driving in 3rd gear around 30mph...maybe 20% throttle...the turbo spools pretty loud but the gauge doesn't show me getting into boost. Just want to make sure that it shouldn't be boosting yet. Stock LS1 with a mild cam, T76-gtq...thoughts?
Just worried

i still haevnt been in a boosted ls1 one but ive been in many other boosted cars and none of them would of been boosting at 25% throttle in any gear, one of friends car that i fequently drive with a pretty big turbo for the car only gets into boost with a very strong press of the throttle past only 3000 rpm

I DD my TT car and I can hear my turbos "spooling" up pretty good just cruising around say no higher than 2500rpm and just 25% throttle. But of course it's not getting past 0psi. LOVE that sound!!

So the vacuum should idle at 15 or so, when i get it closer to 0, it sort of hangs there and doesn't go up to boost...that's ok? I don't want to get into boost, do I need to quit getting it up to 0 without a tune yet? My car was pretty rich before the swap, high 11s on an LM1. I don't have access to the LM1 anymore...am I going to hurt anything staying out of boost but getting up to 0?

ya stop doing that you could hurt something if you try to step on it to send it to zero mani pressure. 15 is good but could be better mine is like 19 it sounds like there might be a little leak in your lines somewhere (dont take my word for it though) mine used to be a 15 till i got it tuned they found a leak or to.

it wont go into boost unless you give a good load under the car when you get moving.
if you hammer it from down low in the rpm range, then the boost gauge should go to zero, then build up boost from there.

Cool guys, thanks for the replies. This is my first turbo car, driven some WRX's and LGT's but nothing feels/sounds like my turbo. I used the brake booster for the boost source...still trying to find a better way to route the lines into the passenger compartment.

Yeah, at low rpm and that much throttle, you'll hear the turbo spooling for sure, but you definitely won't be in boost... That's a relatively large turbo for the 346, and only 20% throttle isn't gonna boost. I did have a problem with my T70 on mine though where it would go lean and would show 0psi when it should've been pulling vacuum, then inch it's way past 0 and start sputtering kind of strange. Get a tune, that's the bottom line, don't test it with forced induction.
