Duals: Out The Back vs. Dumped
Trying to decide whether or not to go out the back with my duals or dump it in front of the axle. Heres the way I see it:
Dumped:
+Cheaper
+Less Work
+More Ground Clearance
Out the Back:
+Less interior resonance
Im split 50/50 so I figured Id seek advice from folks on the board. Thanks for your input!

I think you have that mixed up...
Try this-
Dumped:
Cheaper
Easier
Lighter
Less ground clearance
More fumes
Louder
More interior vibration (a lot more)
Out the back:
Quieter
Looks better
Settles down a lot of rattles

Only way I'll have dumps again is on a track car or have electric cutouts to kill them before they kill me. I had dumps for over a year and they sounded incredible, without a doubt, better than anything else I've heard, but they got old.

Well, I'm having my TD's (no cats & 3" X-pipe) installed later next month and the shop will be dumping mine at the axle (will be a pair of Flowmaster 1-chambers). It's gonna be unbelievably LOUD both inside and out of the car. But I don't mind since my LS1 isn't my daily driver...

my dumped 4x9 magnaflows have interior resonance comparable to stock. they don't vibrate the car, the poly trans. mount beat them exhaust to it...
i wouldn't go any other way, i was skeptical about the dumped exhaust and drone on the highway, but the setup i have is f'n sweet, very nice. my only complaint is the exhaust entering the car at stop lights, etc..

I haven't done much to my 99, but on my 68 (back home 900 miles away ) I have hooker comp headers, 2.5" pipes going to x-pipe then to a set of borla's and dumped before the axle-90degs. Sounds great at speed, mellow at idle. It has the fuming problem but i never got to tune the carb after exaughst install-I smelled like raw fuel afterwards. Drone? not a problem with the borla's, I get to hear F/A 18's all day long though lol

Dump 'em!
I daily drive mine with dumped duals with dynomax bullets, 4k stall and MS3.
If it gets too loud for you use a more serious muffler than the standard bullets. Borla XR1s or Magnaflows, for example.
