Default Y-pipes...

Dumb question but i'm looking into picking up some headers in the future. It looks like most headers use a 3" y (i'm interested in off road pipes) but my exhaust system is stock sizing except for a cutout. Would I have to purchase a catback in order to use these y-pipes or would I be alright?

In a way you answered your own question. The Y pipe goes to the inlet of the cats. Therefore you dont need a cat-back exhaust which runs from the outlet of the cats. the Y pipes that come with the headers should bolt right up to the stock cats.

has nothing to do with the cats... the Y pipe connects the 2 headers to the single main pipe, and u'll be connecting a 3" pipe to a 2.75" pipe, i guess it can be done with an adaptor, but u will be bottle-necking ur exhaust...
