I have done it. i am building the engine now. it worked beautifully. could have been made into a 6.0L or bigger this coming from the mechine shop ppl. i got my LS1 for 500 and its stronger than the aluminum version. in my opinion the LM7 because of what its made of and what you can do with it is a far better engine than the LS1.
