Taking the crank pulley off.

Taking the crank pulley off.
So I want to take the crank pulley off today...
I bought a 24" breaker bar (1/2" drive), a 24 mm socket and a 3" extension.
I have the parking brake on tight and I put it in 4th gear (Yup I have a M6)
So then i put the wrench on the bolt and began to crank it....
Well the pulley seems sort of "spongy" It has quite a bit of movement in it....
Is this normal? Should I go back out and continue to try and get it off?
I just want to make sure I am doing everything correctly... (I just thought the pulley would stay put with it in gear.... )

Are you putting an aftermarket pulley on? If so, let me knwo if you have a slight wobble when done. I have one but it only shows around mid throttle and quits again??? Also, difference in powerband...I got a funny sound around 4500-5500? You got any clue, or are you doing it too?

you should not have a wobble, that is not right, are your belts 100% lined up? stand on the driver side and look down the powerstreering pump, belts lined up? if not you may not have the pulley seated fully. what brand?
