running a bit lean, car studders...what is it
Last night i took her for a spin, car has been running fine untuned with my LT's, !CATS, and TD's for the time i have driven it, it is not a DD...so many like 25 times since install
Anyway, I bought some polished MAF ends w/o a screen, and up to last night had NO problems...
last night however, i noticed on my a/f gauge that it never really got out of the red, it would pulse from lean (red) to just barely stoich (yellow)....
it usually goes from red to almost green (rich) when accelerating...i realize the a/f gauges aren't the most accurate, but still it is giving me an idea...also when I was cruising at like 45 the car was studdering JUST SLIGHTLY....but when i would floor it it was very quick and smooth, no backfiring either at any point...
shoudl i put the screened ends back in???
THANKS

The MAF sensor runs in relation to a very sensitive calibration table, your new MAF ends are ported & polished & descreened, therefore you are letting in more air than the PCM is actually seeing.. and subsequently are running lean.
You have 2 possible solutions.
- Remove the ported MAF ends and put your stockers back on.
- Have the car tuned around the MAF ends... however, you will find that 95% of the tuners out there do not want to deal with the follies of tuning around a ported & polished MAF sensor. The stock MAF sensor in factory form will support over 500rwhp.
