how much power will i loose with the 317 heads.

how much power will i loose with the 317 heads. i know they lower the compression but they also flow like an ls6 243 head so how much will i loose on a stock ls1,meanwhile to i finish my FI project.

1 point in compression is usually worth 3-4% power increase (or decrease in your case).
I would not think you would gain much with the increased flow of the 317 heads. They are about in the middle of 241 and 243 castings in terms of flow. I would suspect the gain in hp due to flow gain would be 10 hp, if that. I seem to remember a couple posts of people putting LS6 heads on and gaining about 20-25 rwhp, but that is with .5 increased compression too.

Check my result in here-I just made 603/483 on a Z06 with these heads. I did it because I wanted to be "safe". This was at 9lbs of boost no knock anywhere and 18 degrees of timing from 3600 to 6000. The torque maybe a little low and I probably could of increased timing a bit-AFR was a safe 11.2 across the board until 4800 where it drops to 10.9. Car feels good off of boost-no noticeable loss in power in low speed driving. At the price these heads are going for i think it' money well spent.
