Man just get an Everstart from Wally world. They will take them things back for any reason. But if you truely want a bad *** battery get an Optima. Be prepared to drop some loot though.

I've got an everstart on mine. It was on when I got the car 2.5 years ago. I've ran it down a few times leaving the lights on and such, but it always charges back up in about 2 minutes of idling and works like a champ. It's fairly small and is just plain ole' black. It looks nice and covert.

I've been really frustrated with the Exide drycell (Optima knock-off) battery I put in my other car. The car sat for about 2.5 months and the battery is completely dead, won't even crank the car (we're talking about a Honda Prelude, not too much demand). The battery is less than an year old. The car started right away with a jump, but come on. I though the drycell batteries were supposed to be especially good in situations of short term storage.
I'm glad to hear you guys with genuine Optima batteries have better experiences.

It's hard to go wrong with an Interstate; that's what I have in my trucks. There was an Optima red in my '99 Z28 when I bought it, and I can't say I'm really happy with it, based on what I see the voltmeter do.

Optimas don't have the same advantage in street cars as they do in offroad trucks. That's the market that they made their claim to fame in. Optimas can be mounted in any direction, even upside down with the gel-cell spiral technology. Designed for the use of heavy current winches and offroad welders. Save your money and buy two or even 3 regular batteries for the price of the nicest optima. Awesome for trucks but overkill in street cars.

I have a friend that had a delco battery leak and ended up costing nearly a grand at the dealership for the repair. I have used both the red top optima and the exide knock off that was mentioned earlier. I have had my red top optima for about 5 years and it has not had an easy life. I have heard what hurts batteries the most is when they are rarely used. My optima has traveled between a few cars and I always use it to start any of the cars that we have that have been sitting for a while. It usually stays in my amx that is in an enclosed trailer and maybe gets used every three months. When ever i go to start the car it fires right up. I also use a exide knockoff in my tahoe and have had that for 2 years with no issues. I have had another exide that is just used for the winch in the trailer. I have had no issues with it and it seems to be able to take the heat inside the black trailer in the florida sun. So i have nothing bad to say about the exide and i may put one in my TA since my car is black but the optima is really the king.

For what it's worth, been happy with my Optima red top. Got it at Costco, you might check their price if you are a member.
The original AC delco started going bad after around 2.5 years (started getting a little slower than normal to turn over, and trip computer memory would clear on startup on colder nights... ...and cold evenings usually aren't that cold here in San Jose not freezing or anything ) Optima has been there since (I guess it has been about 5 years now) with no signs of trouble.
