Question 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 for future

I'm planning on adding long tube headers shortly and was wondering if I should go with 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 for the future. I plan on upgrading to a 402 in a year or two. I understand I will lose some torque but don't want to have to purchased headers twice. The car current has a set of ported heads, 224/224 581, 114 cam, ported TB, LS6 intake and makes 380 rwhp through shorties and stock ypipe. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks

1-7/8" is what I'd do if I was you. You should definatly pickup at least 25-30rwhp pretty easily, I'm sure you'd be pleased.

I would not do 1 7/8 unless it is a drag car you are spinning pretty high. no need to.

You do not need to run a 1 7/8 header on a 402. One of our cars has a 402 with our 1 3/4 HVMC put down 515hp and 490ish TQ NA. Sprayed a 60 shot and runs 10.30s. If the car will be an all out race car then think about larger header. But if the car ever sees the street 1 3/4 is all you will ever need.
