Default Help...Im leaking

Ok...so I pull the car from the garage today and I see a little area of motor oil where it was parked. I started the car and the pressure is running at 20 lbs at idle and 40 under normal driving. Is that too low? What should I be checking/looking for?

I cant get under the car so Im obviously asking if there are any mechanical symptoms that I should be looking for.

How many miles?

You might be leaking from a bunch of places. (front cover, rear cover, oil pan, valley cover so-on-and-so-forth).

I heard that this will stop it for a while.

But seriously...

I bet it might be time to replace the oil pump or the front seal.

If you've got higher mileage, your PCV system may not be able to vent all the blowby gasses. These gasses can force oil out of your seals due to excessive crank case pressure.

If it keeps doing it regularly, stick a breather on your oil cap and see if it stops. This will relieve all pressure in the system.

Are you sure someone didn't pour some oil out, then have you park over it to make you worry?

Jordan, why don't you send him a few tampons of your own so he doesn't have to buy a box!
