Most of the time when i shift into third gear it grinds really bad. depending on the day it may do it to other gears also. whenever it happens its not just a one time thing but will do it the whole time i'm driving the car on that trip, possibly longer. I'm confident it isn't me because no matter what i try to stop it, it continues. any guesses what, if anything, might be wrong. i also forgot to add that there is some chattering at times too. i'm not sure if it's coming from the clutch or the tranny.

could be your clutch/throw out bearing or it could be your synchros. do the clutch if it still does it i think you may need a rebuild my friend

Sounds like the slider is worn out. Normally this happens as they are wearable items inside the T56. It is definanatly a common problem that just about everyone has.

alright. how much would the sliders cost? i was driving it some more and i noticed that its hard to get into gear at high RPMs, about 4500+. again it's mainly 3rd having the problem. I'm not sure if that might be related or not.
