Default Installing pilot bearing please help

I'm getting ready to install a pilot bearing into my new motor and wondering if it goes in flush with the crank or if it goes back just a little or does it matter

I just pulled and installed for a clutch swap. Install it FLUSH with the crank flat side out.

why flat side out? There's no point to have a rounded edge towards the crank, and if you look at the input shaft from the tranny the rounded edge fits perfect with the rounded edge on the shaft. I might be wrong but I put it rounded side out, flat side in. But yes ls1 jeff is right, put it flush with the crank

The rounded side installs easier into the crank. The radiused detail on the input gear will never contact the bearing and has nothing to do with the install.

Dont put the rounded side inside or youll never get the input shaft in there, thats why its taperd to help when stabbing the tranny back in.
