Default Is this a waste of money?

Ok well my z06's 9.5 front and 10.5 rear 18"s weight a really good bit compared to the stock 17" 10 spokes that came with my SS. I'm heading to cecil county dragway next friday and was thinking about taking off my z06's and buying a drag radial like a nitto nt 555r for the rears and run those rims to give me an advantage. About 300$ for a pair of those tires, I can get them mounted and ballanced for free that's no worry there. I don't bring my SS to the track that often but do take it out once and a while. Just want to get my 12 second time slip with an exhaust and lid. Should I take this route or just bare with the z06's on there that weigh a good bit. Is the dr route a waste of money for 17"s? Please help guys.. I need opinions

Hey.. I just went with M/t ET street radials for my 17's. Long Neck is between millsboro and rehobeth. Want to cruise up to cecil county with us next friday : ) I already have a procharged SS coming, and srt4, and others. I'm like 13 min from millsboro.
