Default Whining noise in my bird

I just bought this 2000 NHRA Formula with 6 speed trany and it runs great. This is my first GM vehicle and I know nothing about this car as to what type of engine or anything else. It is making a whining noise. I thought sure it was the power steering pump, so I replaced it. No change in the noise. Any ideas?

Do you even have a blower? Is the whining noise on startup? Its the air pump in the drivers side fender.

Your thinking it has a supercharger , it don't. My car makes the same powersteering whine noise . Its just some thing we have to deal with or get a manual rack&pinion. could be the wide tires straining the rack hell I dont know , one thing though it pisses me off .one more thing to make my car sound like a peice of **** . btw your car has an aluminum ohv 346ci v8 and its the badest mother out roaming the prarie. someone asks tellem just that and dont take no lip . If you plan to mod your car some look

I would put my money on it being your rear end. 10 bolts after being driven hard can start to whine... judging by the fact you replaced your pump the sound is comming from the back. There isnt much you can do about it... check your shim distances, but that only has a 20% chance to fix it or so. You need to check the rearend section here in LS1Tech... they will help you more.
