Start up tips for new engine
Guys,
Whats the best procedure to ensure an easy 1st start for my new 408 engine? It's basically taken me 2 months (in my spare time) to get this built and dropped in... so I want to make sure I do it right the 1st time. Do I need to prime the fuel rails or will the in-tank pump get it there easily? Should I be concerned with oil initially at start up or will the engine properly disperse it during the first start?

If you put new lines and everything on, then you might want to depress the shrader valve a few times after the pump comes up to pressure and shuts off, but usually you can get it done by turning the key on, letting the pump come up to pressure, shut the key off, and repeat a few more times.
If you used assembly lube, I wouldn't be to concerned about oil as long as the level is correct. If it's been a while (more than a week) since you assembled the internals, you may want to put a drop or two down each spark plug hole, and pull the valve covers and squirt some in there just to be safe.
