Default stall converter not locking

hey guys whats up, i have a 98z that i recently had a 3500 stall installed to, and when i first got it it would like real nice then a few weeks ago it would start locking as soon as it got to over 40 mph. and now it doesnt lock at all . would this effect the purpose of the converter ? will it effect my gas mileage? will a tuning help it? thanks in advance guys

Yes, it will effect gas mileage, and the purpose of a convertor. Tuning can help depending on why the convertor decided to not lock up.

my converter quit locking up and now im going with a vig3600. what brand converter is it? if its a fuddle like mine then youre probably screwed like me. mines making a whingin noise now and if something in your converter broke than you would want to get a new one because you dont want pieces out of the converter to go into your tranny and brake your tranny too. but if you go to a tranny shop they should be able to put it on a computer to see if your computer is telling your converter to lock up.

If the converter is new, then most likely the problem can be solved with tuning. If the converter is used, then there's an increased chance of a problem with the lock-up clutch. Your first step would be to find someone who can do some datalogging and see what's going on.

hopefully it can be solved with tuning...but just because its new doesnt mean its not broke...mine broker after only about 3k miles. granted that is a fuddle and they are hit or miss.
