What cam do you have, What do you feel about it?
Ok I think it'd be a good idea if a bunch of people consolidated their cam choices, reasons for choosing them, and overall how happy they are with their selection. This would make it quite a bit easier for people to compare a lot of cams. So basically do it in a format something like:
1.) Which cam do you have, include specs?
2.)Why did you end up choosing it over others?
3.)Overall, How do you feel about your choice, would you do it again or not?
4.)Mods you have
5.)Transmission
6.)Other info or other cams you have tried.
Ill start an example, will be cammed soon.
1.) Stock, 198/208 - 119lsa i believe
2.) Came with car, I haven't chosen an aftermarket one yet, planning to swap during the winter.
3.)IT's stock, needs to make more pwoer
4.)Full Boltons
5.) 6speed
6.)none

G'day there mate, just cruising thru and thought I'd put an Aussie example in at the start.
My car is a HSV Senator Signature - 2001 model - LS1.
1.) CompCams XR275HR - 222/224@112lsa .566/.568 lift and Comp 918 Valvesprings.
2.)I chose it because it is a good mid-range cam for an LS1 and I was impressed with the performance of this camshaft in cars I had tested. I didn't want to go TOO big as the car is my family daily driver.
3.)I am VERY happy with this cam, it provides great response from off-idle, picks up and grabs you at 3,500 and pulls like a train until 6,500. Good idle, good fuel economy and makes the engine sound great.
4.)CAI (modified HSV airbox), 1.75" primary 4-1 Headers HPC coated (like your longtubes), hi-flowed catalytic converters, twin 2.5" exhaust system, with mufflers and rear resonator, PCM re-tune to suit the cam. Standard 3.73:1 diff ratio. (Basically, bolt-ons and tune)
5.)M6 - standard clutch, 'til it breaks.
6.)N/A.
The car makes 260.8 Rear-wheel Kw (348hp) on a chassis dyno (Dyno-Dynamics), with all ancillaries connected, which is around the average for this sized cam in Aus.
Cheers,
Macca
