Default Flexplate exposed on auto tranny LSx's?

I noticed on my swap that the flexplate is exposed in certain areas. Is this normal? After some searching I found an inspection cover that goes under the starter, one problem solved, I will check to see if GM still sells this. But on the driver's side by the oil filter, there seems to be a small area of the flexplate that is exposed also. Anybody know if there is supposed to be another inspection cover there? Seems kind of strange to have the flexplate exposed like that, so there must be something. Please let me know. Thanks.

Yes, there's two plastic covers, one for each side.
