Default lt1 valve springs

This might be a dumb question but i was looking into going with 1.6 rr on my comp cams 503 cammed lt1 and looking thru the comp cam charts they say to go with a 26918-16 valve spring. This valve spring is also used on the ls1 engines. My question was if i could run the ls6 springs on my lt1 that are good up to .550 lift or if i'm just dreaming, because i could pick up a set of ls6 for $70 compared to the behives that are over $150. If i'm forgetting anything else please let me know.

Well, what's the lift on the cam? You'll get more lift from the 1.6s, about 10-15% more, especially as the stock 1.5 are actually a bit less than 1.5.

Beehives are good springs... and the problem with the LS6 springs will be finding a retainer that fits the LT1s. LT1 retainers are different than LS1. I know you can use the stock retainers for the LS1 beehive, not sure for the LT.

Also consider the Patriot Gold dual springs for LT1 (I got mine from TRTurbo for 240 shipped); about 250, but that includes titanium retainers, seats, and 10 degree locks. You might need to go with -.050 locks for rocker tip clearance, I did with the self aligning Crane 1.6 RRs. Good for up to .650+ lift. Only concern here is possible need for seat machining to give a low enough closed pressure; I wound up with 170 on the seat, and 320 open with .580 lift, no seat machining. Note these springs do NOT appear on the Patriot website, but they do exist.

PRC also may have their dual spring for LT1 out now; they were about to release them a couple weeks ago once they got the retainers made.
