Arrow biggest heads and cam for forged 347 and alot of nitrous

I recently decided to pull the motor apart for winter to freshin it up and change somethings out. I was wondering what cam is everyone using to spray a 250-350 shot on? I was also wondering if stage 3 heads would flow good with a 90/90 setup on a smaller cubic inch 347. I was going to change my pistons and rods up a bit and go a different route to get to my goal.

there is no "everyone uses" cam for a 250-300 shot car. that kind of setup would be something i would go ahead and have a custom grind made up for me, and if you are considering new heads, have the cam matched to the heads you end up using. best thing is to call up a respected builder and have them handle all of that stuff. i would reccomend Erik Koenig at HPE 713-722-7000

Go with a custom grind cam for sure. I'd talk to TEA about some TFS 225 small bore heads, maybe w/ some exhaust port work, or some ETP heads. These seem to be the best heads on the market for an all out setup. Aftermarket castings with a thicker deck will definatley help w/ that much spray.

You should look at runner size and cubic inches as well. for stock cubes you really dont want the higgest head you can find. Runner size and velocity are an important factor. Talk to Tony Mamko at AFR about that.

As far as cam I just had one speced out and ground for my application (which is a 250-300 shot) and it is a 234/240 6xx/6xx 112 lsa. LME custom cam.

TFS doesn't make small bore 225's, you might be thinking of small bore afr 225's

You could tear down the LS1, upgrade connecting rods, rod bearings, rod bolts, pistons, piston rings, fuel system and go with some AFR 205s or 225s, or even some ETP 215s or 225s. Cam, not sure.

However I would...

Buy a 408 stroker shortblock and run some $1300 Patriot Performance stage 3 LS6 or 6.0l heads and make a lot more power on and off the bottle than you could with the LS1. You could spray a shitload more on the iron block as well (even though you would have to spray the hell out of the aluminum block to break it anyways..). Just my $.02
