Anyone who swapped a LS1 into a E30 BMW please check in!
So through my few years of driving i've had plenty of bmws going through them fairly quick. I've had e series from the european e21 80 323i to 6 e30's (still have one) and a couple e36's including a 98 m3 which i currently own, but is for sale. http://e-owned.com/luke/ new price is $20k FIRM
ok now that i said that, here is what the deal is.
i have a 86 325e that i picked up for $400. Its a clean body to work with, but the engine runs a little rough and needs new suspension. i decided to slowly build the car up to a track car. Currently i have the whole thing stripped. My plan is to go wideboy with like 285 tires in front and like 305's in the back. big brakes, full rollcage, LS MOTOR with T56 TRANNY to power the whole thing.
so anyone that can lead me to some info, please do!

Do a search. There was some info here somewhere.
There is a guy in the UK, with an E30 wide arch M3 converted to LS1 power, using a GTO based unit.
I do recall him saying the conversion wasnt that difficult.

Look at my sig. I have three e30's as well. It will fit. Steering is a challenge and it you want to keep the e30 balanced handling you will have to cut the firewall and move it back and down. Use a dry sump pan or the Corvette pan for ground clearance. The rear should be fine if you get a dual mount rear cover and upgrade the CVs and don't do 5000 rpm clutch dumps with sticky tires
If you want crappy handling leave it where it is.
Sorry to be so blunt but I see many bmw conversions where they think that they can dump a heavier engine and trans (yes it is heavier than an iron block six AND the bmw trans) in the same location and expect the thing to be balanced. The fallacy that you can compensate with wider tires and "drive with the gas pedal" is exactly that.
