Default BAD noise after cam and heads installed.

241 heads milled .030 with 2.02 1.57 valves. Patriot dual gold springs.

GM LS6 headgaskets

7.400 trickflow pushrods

244/248 .612 .615 114+2 comp cam

Reused the stock lifters with about 50k on them (shop said they were fine)

This is not a tick like a misadjusted rocker it is LOUD. I have duals and you can hear the tap from 50 feet away. Pistons were flycut. When i double checked the rockers im getting about 1 and 1/2 to 1 and 3/4 of a turn after zero lash then it hits 22ftlbs. I have no idea what the noise could be. I am not the one who put the motor together so i dont know if PTV was checked. If its not the valves hitting the pistons the only other thing i can think of is the retainers are hitting the valveguides.

Any ideas guys? Im having it towed back to the shop in the morning.

How much was flycut? I would say you needed .085 at least

Pistons were flycut .090. Turns out it was the valves hittting the pistons Also turns out the heads were cut .050 So we are going to use a thicker head gasket instead of cutting more out of the piston. I will know next time not to buy "budget" heads from someone who doesnt work in a known shop. Guy didnt even put in new valve guides.
