Default Fix Tranny or buy new one

Ok from searching through these threads and posting my own I've been able to come to the conclusion that more the likely the problem has something to do with the sunshell. I've read that that is a 50 dollar part (that plus labor is very do-able) but I dont know if anything else is damaged and I dont want to take it to the dealer because they charge 90 bucks just pull up and the work is always 2 or 3 hundred more than the estimate. I live 50 miles away from my job so excessive down time isnt an option. I've been trolling the threads looking for a good used trans, but none are local and paying for a heavy *** transmission to be shipped isnt in the budget. I have about 1200~ish I can afford to spend when I get paid on Thursday, and I absolutely need my car back up and running in the next week. My question is given the situation would it be cheaper/easier to buy a good used 4l60e, a stock new one, or try to get mine rebuilt locally(So Cal).
