Default 2nd Gear Slipping

Ok heres my problem first gear works fine no problem with that second gear slips really bad like wont accelerate third gear works fine and so does fourth gear. what is my problem? could it just be tranny fluid? or the dreaded broke 4L60E?? i have an automatic.

I had the same problem im just going to rebuild it to hold up to a beating. I believe the clutches are worn out or burnt up and wont hold 2nd gear anymore.

where would be a good place to buy a rebuild kit for an automatic 4L60E?

There are no 2nd gear clutches, 2nd gear comes about by the band stopping the forward input drum from turning. 2nd and 4th both use the band, but 4th also applies the overun clutches, which is why 4th is not so bad. Could be a weak 2-4 servo, or a fluid leak past the servo seals, or a smoked 2-4 band. Or a wasted transmission.
