How many of you have broken the 10 bolt w/automatic?
Please tell me more info on what all happened! I want to see how concerned I should be if I plan on running 10's with h/c/bolt ons and spray

The pinion gear came apart in my 3.73 geared 10 bolt.
163k LT1 with bolt ons, a 4K stall and TH400.
This was on street tires.
Not even gonna try another 10 bolt. Dana 60 for me.
The rear lasted a long time with the slippin 60E, once I put a good tranny in it the rear went. Go figure.

I blew my 10 bolt, with about 25,000 miles on the clock, and stock stall. Just a few bolt on's. I think I was running 13.1 or 13.2's when I blew the carrier out. So it can blow at any time. Watch out!

Snapped two spider gears in the stock Auburn posi with the Yank SS4000, 3.73's, M/T ET radials and the mods in the sig. It pulled the left front up then one tire got into some oil or water and violently went to the left, then got hard traction again. I'm sure when it got traction again is when it broke. Luckly none of the pieces got into the ring and pinion, so I found a barely used Auburn Pro posi here on the boards and put that in but haven't been to the track with it yet.
Made many runs with a 2800 Vig and sticky tires with no problems at all. Put in the SS4000 and had alot of fun pulling 1.60 wheels up 60 fts. Unfortunately that fun only lasted 5 runs. 6th run is when it broke.

Posi went out in mine(DID NOT KNOW IT AT THE TIME) in the burn out box.staged the car and POW!! hit the rev limiter a couple of times on the launch, broke the posi all together and!!!!!!!busted the planetery in the trans at the same time. The car was only running low 12 at the time(NO CAM YET) probably had been down the track 200-250 runs, with about 10,000 miles on the odometer. When i pulled the cover off the rear, the magnet looked like a steel wool pad from all the spider gear shavings.I have a Strange rear in it now!!

Broke the posi in my stock, 3.23 geared 10 bolt before 60K miles. It cracked in 3 places and fell out in pieces when I took the cover off. All I had on the motor was a lid, MAF, bellows, and a ported TB.

I'm not exactly shure what went in mine but it would howl pretty loud and wouldn't spin both tires all the time, all this on stock F1's with a lid and cat-back in only 18,000mi.

I swear the 10 bolt is the most unpredictable part in the F-bodys. I know guys that push over 450rwhp and launch on the bottle with slicks and high gears and their 10 bolts have held up so far( knock on wood ) and some guys barley have bolt-ons and break their 10 bolts on street tires. I wonder why some 10 bolts are so strong and some are so weak. Or are the ones that are "stronger'' than others just that lucky.

I have run 11.3 @ 121 with a 1.64 60ft spinning. I launched about 2400 im thinking if I preload it pretty high before I launch it will be softer on the launch and wont break parts as easy. The 10 bolt doesnt seem to like shock thats why alot of 6spd guys break them. It also seems to help with spinning by preloading it higher im thinking its not such a shock. This was on 16" et streets. Next year im running a 200 shot and 15'' et drags. The car was probobly capable of going 10's this year just alittle bit better 60ft and some cooler weather and I think It could of gone 10's. Its getting sprayed with a 125 flywheel shot right now its about 90rw thats why im spraying it with a 200 to make like 170 at the wheels.

I had a rear TA rear girdle and screwed up my posi in a bone stock car. Replaced the posi and stripped a couple teeth off the ring gear. I guess some people just have better luck with them.
