Default car is dying after start up..

The other day I was driving my car to the grocery store to pick up some goods. (Started fine the first time) When I got back to my car and started it back up it had a low idle and was sputtering for about 10 seconds and then died. I started it again and gave it a little gas and then it was fine and I drove off. But when I got back home and let it idle in the garage it had a rough idle around 500 RPM's. This has happened to me 3 times now so I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone had this problem before?

No leaks, and the check engine light isn't on. It seems more like an electrical problem to me. When my car was sputtering my lights were diming like the battery wasn't getting a good conection, but it looks ok. Has anyone had this happen before?

Check your engine ground harness and battery ground to body condition. Corrosion is a sneaky enemy for electrical systems.

If its not a ground problem, then its a power supply problem. Your flickering/dimming lights give that away.

fun isn't it? I just had similar symptoms on my lt1 today.

I'm hoping it is a bad tank of gas or something. But here is something no one else mentioned.... I'll bet your lights are only going dim when the car is low on idle. Low idle = low power to things like the lights, those 2 problems are connected. My other car likes trying to die after going on the highway for a while, and my lights do the same thing when it is dying.

Good luck with your problem, and pm me if you find a solution haha.

was gonna say battery terminals are corroded and aren't making good contact with the battery posts.

Had this happent o be about 2 months after I got my Z. Cleaned off battery terminals with some good ole Coca Cola and new batter (voltage @ terminals was 10.2 and only pull 200mA during startup).

My car did the same thing today but it was sitting with the battery disconnected for a month. But my battery is shot, so I figured it was a charging issue.

Same thing just started happening to me... Mine doesn't do it every time I start up but about every other time. I'm hoping it's a bad tank of gas like TORCHED mentioned. The only other thing I noticed was it seemed to start once it started getting really gold around here, near freezing.
