FIPK Benefits first if there is a previous thread let me know. if not anyone tell me if there are in noticable gains/benefits for the FIPK over the SLP package lid? i have a 02 35th SS with the slp performance package and im trying to see if there is a justification for spending 200/250 for a FIPK.

ive got an FIPK on one of my cars and a lid on the other. for best bang for the buck go with a lid but by no means do i regret getting the FIPK and i find it hard to beleive you could lose power by going from one to the other.

I have the FIPK and love it. No way in hell can I see it flow any less than a lid. I ran an SLP lid for a while, then switched to the FIPK and thought the car ran a little harder, although a miniscule difference. Fuel trims richened up a hair as well. This got me to think that a little more air might be getting into the engine. Also, I'm sure someone is going to chime in about the FIPK sucking in hot air. Again, my experience negates this entirely. My IAT equaled ambient air temps no more than a few seconds after moving from a stop.
Just thought I'd add a little to this discussion. BTW, do a search on this, if the search feature is working, there's a lot of info on this topic.

I got one because of my hood...works very well and sits up in the bottom of the cowl...when i swtiched to this from a lid i could feel it pull harder up top and my trottle response improved. If I had a stock hood I would stick with the lid...the FIPK is a bitch to keep clean

This one has been beaten to death. I like lids. It looks crazy, so people bought it, K&N made money, and that's all she wrote.
Don't get a FIPK for power, do it if it tickles your pickle in the looks dept, but remember this: For the cost of a FIPK, you can buy a Lid, filter, and SSRA. Then you'll have a MUCH better setup.
