Default 98 oil pump

I have a 98 camaro ss and I have a big cam and boltons and am planning on nitrous in the future. I have had no oil pump problems. Will my pump be ok or are all 98's pumps doomed? It seems to sit right around 40 all the time idleing.

Mine was fine until I hit around 70k. Once I hit that mileage I noticed that my oil pressure started to slowly drop. Until one day the pressure was sitting around 30psi at most at idle. Then at WOT it was only around 45psi. So I went ahead and changed it anyways. Now it sits at 40-45psi at idle and 60+ at WOT.

just swap it out, don't risk an engine on a $100 part.

^^^ Well said! I changed the stock oil pump for an LS6 oil pump during cam swap even though the car only had 42K miles at the time and the oil pressure was good. Not worth worrying all the time and watching the gauge for a mere $80.

Mine was like this before and after the new pump at 120,000mi....seemed a bit strange to me.

when i did my cam swap at 85k miles my oil pump was good. I had about 40psi warm pressure and about 60wot. I swapped to the slp heavy duty pump and now I get around 50 cold idle, around 50 at around the town driving and 75-80 wot.
