1985 monte carlo question

Default 1985 monte carlo question

my buddy told me his brother has a 1985 monte carlo ss for sale he tells me it has new exhaust,shocks,tires and has less than 50k original miles and it has the 305 in it....he said the only thing is the paint is dulling a little but not bad he said with a good wax/buff it should look brand new...hes askin 3k for it is that a good deal even if it needs to be painted? i need to know asap so i can tell him if i want it or not.....part of me is saying hold off for the ws6 ls1 i been dreamin of for the past 6 years but i dunno

that's a pretty good deal i have an 88 ss with 159k on it that needs some quarter panel work, and i'm asking 1,900.00 for it. remember though in 85 the rear was like 3:42 instead of 3:73 in the 87- 88. also the 85 ss the interior trim pieces werea one years only so they will be hard to find if you need to replace. also the the rear area above the bumper and below the trunk deck the piec in there is known to rust out (the metal) and the plasitic in that area bubbles. i would look for an 87, or an 88. i have owned 2 81 montes, 2 84 montes, 85 ss, 88 ss and an 87 areocoupe, i still have the 87, 88. ghood luck with it if you need any help let me know i know these cars in and out. thanks.
also the 305 in that is 180 hp, and that isnot to the wheels.

i would say hold off and wait for the ls1, but if thats the car you want then go ahead.

Yeah. My Mom has an '86 Monte Carlo SS, those things are all gear.

They'll pull decent until you hit about 60 and they fall flat on their face. It's a nice driving car, I'd love on for a DD.
