lost 6th and most of 5th last night

lost 6th and most of 5th last night i was driving last night and tried to shift from 5th to 6th at about 5k rpm and i couldnt shift to 6th. Now I can shift into 5th but it comes out of gear as soon as i let off the gas. I cant shift into 6th at all. The rest of the gears make a weird noise too but i can shift between them fine. My car is under warrantee so i already dropped it off but i was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to what might be going on. Thanks in advance

the dealership called me today and said that 5th and 6th gears were seized to the main shaft and that they couldnt even get the transmission out of the car....they are going to have someone from GMPP come out and look at but will more-than-likely have to replace the entire transmission....
