Default What is deck hight?

What is deck hight on engine blocks? any advantages of a taller Vs. a shorter one? Does this involve stroke or something?
-Thanks-

Deck Height is the measurement from crank centerline to top of piston bore.
A tall deck block allows you to run a larger stroke crank for more CID.

More CID means more torque and thus better et's, assuming a hipo build up.

The drawback is that depending on the engine parameters there is a law of diminishing returns.
The bore to stroke ratio and the rod to stroke ratio can create issues for efficiency. If rod angularity is high it is argued that the stress on the bore is increased.

Generally speaking unless you are building a competitive all our 500+ cube race engine, there isn't much to worry about.
