can weld make custom wheels?
i want to put some weld draglites on my camaro and i know the biggest backspacing available is 7.5". i am also aware that there is a lot of work involved in putting these wheels on 4th gen fbodies such as grinding and hammering. is is possible to get weld to make some draglites for me with lets say a 8.5" backspacing? would this bigger backspacing make the install easier? thanks in advance.

Backspace isn’t what determines if a wheel clearances a caliper setup.
Weld is in the process of bankruptcy so I don’t think you’ll be going too far. You probably can't even purchase the normal wheels they produced at this time. They also do not design custom wheels per request.
If weld was to build a wheel per request it more than likely wouldn’t be their economy series wheels. You’d be more inclined to seeing it in the high-ended wheels they produce which are in the 1600.00 range.
…We can manufacture you wheels that fit your car and are designed for your application. Call me if you need assistance. (724) 478-5580

thanks, i know that the backspacing has nothing to do with how much caliper grinding i would have to do. i just thought that a larger backspace would help with the beating the wheel well part. thanks for the response.

You'd have to beat the wheelwell even more with an 8.5" backspace. Actually, I don't believe you'd even get one to go in...if you did, your rear seat would not operate correctly due to the hinge-point.
Have a great day:-).
