Question Need your help....

I was driving home today and what started with a whine turned into a knock.
It is not the motor, I can crank the car and there is no knock....

The sound follows the RPM of the motor. It is coming from the driveline somewhere. I backed it up a bit and put it in first and slowly pulled forward and I here it clunk. It sounds like it is coming from the trans.

But, it shifts into all gears just fine!

any suggestions what this might be?

I have searched the internet on this noise and people are saying that it sounds like the bell housing bolts have come loose causing it to shift more than a 1/4 of an inch.

I explained, it still shifts fine through all gears....

Does this sound right?

I hope so because i did not want to rebuild the trans.
