Default 346 chamber heads(3.9 bore) on a 402 stroker(4.0)bore??'s

Hey guys, I've been doing quite a bit of reseaching lately on a good larger ci package for my 02' ZO6. I'm currently running ETP 215 heads at 59cc on my 346 with Cometic .040 gaskets and a G5X3/114 cam.

My questions are:

How would these heads work in conjunction with a 402?
Should I consider having the bore opened up, or is it not to big of a deal?
How will the smaller 215 runner negate performance and will I see numbers similiar to others with 402 setups?

I'm planning on running this combo with a ported Fast90, and a G5X4 cam.

I have given some thought to the L92/L76 combo, but would like to try and sell my 3k+ worth of parts so my wife doesn't kill me for purchasing parts that I don't need....

TIA,
Alan

I ran ported 5.3 heads with my 402 for a while and it gave great DCR with -12 pistons @~11.2 CR. Yours would be fine I think.

I ran a set as well with no issues. Obviously a little lower on the dyno than I would have liked, but if $$$$ is tight, they work.

My buddy is running a set of ported LS1 853 heads on his 402. Used cometic gaskets. They were not opened up for the larger bore.

Car made 493rwhp in a C5 and runs awesome.

My advice... if you're going to a 402, sell your ETP's and get some L92's sell your fast intake aswell. Get the L92 heads, and the L76 cam, put the money you got from selling your heads, intake, cam into your shortblock. and have 500+rwhp

If you set the heads on the block and turn it upside down you can see there ain't a whole lot to remove from the head to make it match the bore size fo a 402, at least there was not on my AFR 205's. Personally, I don't see it being much of a gain. Some will claim otherwise. If you unshroud around the intake valve too much the air will come around the valve and run right into the deck of the deck of the block and get redirected IMO. Maybe some experienced porters can elaborate if this is actually a good thing, I can't see how it would be.
