Default Which digital camera to buy??

Ok guys, I am need of a new digital camera...I had an Olympus C-50 which was ok but it just crapped out on me...

I would like a better camera this time around and wondered what you guys would suggest....I am no pro photographer so I don't need something really too expensive....but I don't want a POS either....would like USB interface and maybe MPEG capable but not necessary...

Any/All suggestions would be great!

Thanks!
Paul

what will be the main use for it? Just a pocket carry-along, or for nicer photos?

zoom capability is key for nicer flexibility. If the camera has good lens zoom settings, those tend to be better all-around cameras than cameras that do not have a decent lens and just magnify things digitally. Some of the tiny cameras do not use an actual moving zoom lens that sticks out, they just magnify the image by increasing pixel size. Not very good for crisp photos.

I'd recommend something with at least 6 megapixels, and an image stabilizer built in. That will virtually remove any camera shake. I typically use Canon or Sony stuff.

Hmm...really just taking pics of cars at work or at the races...family photos during the holidays...
Kinda leaning towards the Sony Cybershot (6 megapixel one) or the Canon Powershot SD630....

Thanks guys for the help!

+1 for powershot. I use my powsershot at work taking pics of motors/cars. I dont mind getting dirty and it takes good pics to boot. Also, + 1 for how crappy cybershots are. As i said i am more a serious photographer and the sit my moms cybershot does bafles me at times.

I bought a Canon Powershot A530 just after Christmas, it's a great little camera for $150.00. Wish I had of gotten one with a bigger screen like the A540 or the SD600.

Check out the Casio EX-S600SR. For the size, quality, and features/options, I don't think there is anything better for the price. I think it will fit your purposes very well.

Panasonic makes a badass little camera you can get at Fry's for like $400. It's like 7 or 8 MegaPixels and it takes some AWESOME pictures.

The Canon Elph line is my favorite. They are small, cheap, and take great pics. The video function works awesome, the zoom is pretty good, and the Macro mode is badass (super-upclose stuff).

Here's one from my SD400....

And here's one from my GF's SD630...
