Default PCV Valve

Can somebody inform me about this PCV Valve Phenomenon? I spoke with a good friend last night regarding some minor oil leaks coming from my valve covers and a small amount of seepage coming from the oil pan area and he said it could be the PCV Valve. I am using a decent amount of oil between changes (another symptom). Would this PCV valve cause my car to leak oil and what not? It has not been changed in the 12,000 miles I have owned the car, and I don't know if it was changed with any of the previous owners (it had 62,000 on it when I bought it).

Default

I suppose it could if it is completely plugged and not allowing evacuation of any blowby that would cause a buildup in pressure and cause you to blow oil out in some places. Replacing the PCV valve is very simple, replacing it most likely will not solve your oil consumption problems, but it will probably solve your oil leaking problems.

Good luck
