Sounds like the y-pipe banging under the floorboard. Does it only do it when taking off from a stop or on hard shifts?

I would check/ retighten your y-pipe clamps and while your under there check/ tighten tranny bushing on crossmember. If all that checks out ok I would say that it would be something to do with the internals of the tranny. Good luck. Of course I've heard of the pacesetter's coming out really close to the driver's side floor board and will cause your y-pipe to hit. Check for some rub marks on the floor pan.

Could be torque arm mount, I would check that too. Also trans mount could be flopping around.

I have a '99 V6 firebird (yes, I know, its the slow, non-exciting one, but its the only one i could afford, seeing as how i'm only 18) and my car started doing the exact same thing recently, and as far as I know my car doesn't have all the fancy stuff, and there are no mods on it at all. So whatever it is may be related to whatever it is on my car. I was thinking it was the exhaust pipe rattling on that little thing that holds it up towards the rear of the car.
