LT1 fuel pressure issue!

LT1 fuel pressure issue! When the key is in the start posistion the fuel pressure guage says "41psi" for about a second then it will drop down to zero, i tested this on my dads SS and his held the PSI at 41 and it didnt drop. So what is causing my fuel to release all pressue?
