Can I run a 2003 5.3 with a 2002 pcm? I have a 2003 5.3 from a GMC Yukon and also have a pcm that is service number 12200411 (I think it is from a 2002 model truck). I would like to use it for my swap. I will be using HP Tuners, so if it is possible to use it with some tuning changes, please let me know. Could it just be reflashed with the 2003 vin number?

Is it just the motor that is an 03, or is wiring harness and sensors 03? If the PCM and harness is 02, you will be fine, but an 02 PCM will not plug into a 03 harness. In 03, they went from a 512K to a 1 meg PCM and changed the harness around a bit with the drive by wire TB and some other stuff. Physically, the motor are all the same though out the years. The vin really makes no difference since you will load what ever tune is necessary for your setup.
