Yes, it'll be a direct swap. For more info on those swaps check out the truck section of LS1tech; Performance Trucks.net
Do a search and you'll find a ton of more in depth info on similar swaps.

I talked to a dealer to try to find a ls2 crate motor, they are saying that my 99 silverado with the 4.8 will only take the 5.3 as a swap, and that the ls2 is not compatible. i do have a programmer and a place that dyno-tuned my 4.8. The only problem i see would be the computer but that can be adjusted for the new motor. Has anyone made this kind of motor change and was there any problems.

As of right now I am running a dynomax exhaust. I am going to install headers when I decide what motor is going to be used in the truck. Also I am going to install a VaraRam filter kit and new mass air flow sensor. I called summit racing about motors, and the 6.0 truck motor is about 3300 dollars and puts out 330 HP. But with a cam and a few mods shoud put out more than 400 HP. On the other hand the 6.0 LS2 motor is about 6700 dollars, and puts out 400HP. I might go with the truck motor and add about 1500 dollars in mods and still come out a lot cheaper with more HP. Any suggestions?
