quick n00b question.....
i did some searching but couldnt find a direct answer to my question.....
im considering purchasing an 01/02 SS that has the M6 and has had the gearing swapped out to 4.10s as well as a tuner/programmer of some sort to adjust the speedo and provide a mild tune.
everything else is stock
what kind of 1/4 mile time would a car like this be capable of and would it still be able to hit the governed 160 mph?
thanks for your time

Depends on how good of a driver you are... Assuming you are decent with a stick, you should be able to hit a low 13.. possibly even a high 12 second pass with the car. Hard to say what the "tuning" is, I'm just going by the gearing. If you're really good with a stick, you might even do better than that.
Gearing and tuning won't change the speed limiter, and yeah, you'll be able to hit it. M6 LS1 cars are actually a lot more fun with 4.10 gears, they should have come that way stock.

thanks for the info.........
im a very capable driver in my opinion........ive only met a handful of those that can drive as well as me or outdrive me........ive been on quite a few drives/rallies with previous cars.
........probably sounds pretty cocky from the n00b though
how often do you guys have meets on here?

we get together quite a bit once the weather gets better, and we race all season. we could use another car in the fight with the ford team. check out the CCC info sticky at the top of the page.

No it won't do 160 mph with 4.10 gears. I'm coming up with 151 mph at 6000 rpm. 157 mph if you run it to 6200 rpm. The stock 3.42 gears are ideally suited for the aerodynamics and hp that a stockish LS1 possesses. And no it won't pull 6th gear with 4.10 gears.
Also I managed a 13.1 with a stock LS1, normal is more like 13.4-13.6 though. With traction and good shifting ( especially with 4.10 gears ) I wouldn't bet against a 12.6 or so

I pulled a 13.3 @ 109 in my 01 TA with a M6 and stock gearing, cut a 2.36 0 - 60 which killed it right off the bat.
On average what I have seen they will run low 13's as long as you can shift it right and it isn't ragged to hell. I drove a A4 before I got the M6 and it honestly felt like a night and day difference in when the power all kicked in.
I am tempted to put the 4.10 gears in mine, will maybe look into it if I get far enough on doing a rear end and cam or something.
Good luck with the purchase!
