Need your opinion on 71' firebird sale...
Thinking about selling my 71' firebird.
Engine needs total rebuild and has not ran in 3 yrs.
It is a 400 w/ ported heads/ RV cam / long tube headers
Originally a 4 spd still w/ clutch pedals inside car. Now a Turbo 400 w/ B&M megashifter and tranny cooler & shift kit.
Disc front breaks and drum rears.
Some run in front quarter panels, already cut out in rear quarters.
rust around windshield and rear glass borders.
one dime size and one nickel size rust holes in trunk.
cut up firewall installing Vintage Air A/C & defrost system... never charged it.
Paid 1k for Vintage air.
Paid 1k for wheels/tires/adapters. 17"x9.5" ROH SP wheels.
Paid over 1k for stereo system. Sony head unit, xplode 4 channel amp, 10" sub in rear deck and 5" mids and tweeters.
In the very poorest condition, car is valued @ just over 3k
what do u guys think...
look at pics in sig. & give me your opinion.

Id say its hard to sell a project midway through it. You'll have an extremely hard time trying to find the guy that wants (and can finish) exactly everything that you've started on it. This car needs a full resto, the money you put into it hasnt helped "restore" the car in anyway. I wouldnt expect anyone to pay more than a couple thousand for it, no way $3K anytime soon atleast...
If you want your money back, sell the stuff bought for it that you can, to someone else.

I've done a frame-off restoration on a '57 Bel Air... and it was in better condition to start with.
It took us 6 years! (grandfather and I on weekends and after work.)
I could do that car, but it would take tons of money, time, skill, and tools to get it done right.
I think you lost all your money on the mods you've added. That car is a basket case and you're lucky to get the face value of the used parts (engine/tranny)....
If you wont restore it then sell it to sombody who is ready. Don't expect more than 3 grand. That's for sure.

I say finish it then maybe you could make some money, but I agree with the opinions expressed above, very rarely will you find someone who will just take over a project. I have seen one though, a buddy bought a 69 camaro in similar shape to what you describe and he started working on it. so maybe. but I doubt it
