Default Whats the length of the stock 10 bolt

I was wondering what is the lenght of the stock 10 bolt, and were do you measure from, Backing plate to Backing plate?

Would it be fine to buy any ford 9'' rear, shorten it, and weld on the spring perches, or is there more to it than just that??

And what about the traction bars? Would the conversion be simple enough, with the right tools?

Thanks
Lane

If it were so easy do you think that 9 inches would be selling like hotcakes to the tune of $2500 like they do?

There is a lot more to it than just welding spring perches...try searching. You'll find out why most people just pony up the cash and buy a setup already made for the f-body.
